How to get Resources to Start a Business
Ahh… The feeling of scarcity/lack… A lot of people get hung up here, especially in the beginning because maybe you’re starting out with next to nothing (in your eyes). You don’t have two nickels to rub together (finances), you don’t really know anyone (connections), you aren’t sure which tools/apps/programs to utilize and how (we’ll discuss this one more in depth later, but I encourage you to check out my Facebook group where I am creating Guides – one of which is a free resource guide! When you sign up for my Newsletter below, I’ll automatically send you the link to join!), and you just feel overwhelmed and underprepared – sound…

How to Stay on Track and Progress
Have you heard of Pearson’s Law? It states that, “When performance is measured, performance improves. When performance is measured and reported back, the rate of improvement accelerates.” If you have children or are around any frequently you probably have observed that, while they’re growing up right before your eyes, you don’t really notice the little changes in height, weight and other nearly imperceptible changes that happen slowly yet continuously throughout youth. The law of familiarity at play. However, those who aren’t regulars in your child’s life such as distant relatives, community members and those we only see on occasion seem to be blown away at the rapid changes they perceive…

How to get Motivated
The drive behind all human behavior. Seems a little presumptuous to assume all humans can be lumped into a box with this one, but once broken down you’ll see how it all can be linked back to just two major forces. Two forces that have the power to really make or break you. Understanding what they are, how they deeply affect us, why they affect us and what we can do about them is going to help us leverage them to our advantage to actually give us that Motivation that we desire, stop procrastinating and start making real and lasting change in our lives. The Twins What are these so-called…

Is Multitasking Harming You?
Multitasking. Ah, how I used to brag about my ability to do so. In my mind, it was a “mom thing” or, at the very least, a “woman thing”. I felt pridefully superior to my husband and pretty much everyone else in our home because I “could balance” so many plates. I was the image of Efficiency. But once I realized that – not only was my balancing act a sham (we sure had a lot of broken plates over the years) – but also that I was completely drained of energy at the end of every day, I began to think my husband was right. You see, he would…

Girl Scout Caramel DeLites / Samoa Cookies Copycat Recipe | Plant-Based, GF, No Refined Sugar
Rarely do I come across a recipe that checks all the boxes, and even when it comes close, I find myself altering things slightly based upon our tastes/dietary-needs. I prefer to stay away from Refined Sugar and sweeten our drinks & food with natural sources like: Local Raw Honey, Real Maple Syrup, Coconut Sugar & Dates… I used to be a big consumer of Monk Fruit back in my Keto days, but I’m no longer a fan and prefer to stick to foods as close to their natural state as possible. I recently came across a post for 3 ingredient, raw Samoa cookies, and it got me craving them. Once…

Advocating for the Birth you Want and Deserve
Advocating for the Birth You Want and Deserve There is much to be said about having a voice. Regardless of what subject we’re talking about, having a say in the matter (when it concerns you and/or those you love) is paramount for many reasons. Feeling out of control, muffled or silenced leads to unnecessary anxiety, stress, worry and other complications that can only compound and make matters worse. Regarding pregnancy and birth, one of the most sacred topics that exists, we must have the boldness and confidence to advocate for ourselves, our baby(s) and others who may not have that level of courage yet. Over the years, pregnancy, birth and…

Be Yourself | The Power of Uniqueness
There is much to be said about being yourself. From a young age we hear “Just be yourself, everyone else is taken” and similar adages. While they have a nice ring to them, and hold much truth, it can be hard to apply and ever harder to see why. We know that Success leaves clues, and reinventing the wheel isn’t the most effective plan of action when trying to accomplish big things, but how do we find a balance between the two? The comparison game is real and while we may start out looking for inspiration and all the right reasons, and – if we’re not careful – we may…

How to Make Bone Broth | Easy and Delicious
A South American Proverb says “Good broth will resurrect the dead” and – while we all know that’s not possible without Jesus – it can surely do the body good, in good times and bad. Broth has been a staple in homes since the beginning of time, being made from the bones of beef, chicken or fish, with optional veggies and herbs, it’s truly an economical, and delicious, way to stretch your budget and nourish your body. Healing the Sick What’s the first thing people bring to a sick person? Soup! Usually chicken noodle. I once knew an older woman who, every time when sick, would eat tons of Ramen…

What is Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)?
Origins MSG is nothing new, in fact, the Japanese professor Ikeda discovered the amino acid Glutamate in the early 20th century while eating soup. He began studying kelp, which was in the soup’s broth to figure out why the broth was so tasty and appealing. He soon realized that kelp, along with many other foods, contains naturally occurring glutamate (L-glutamic acid), and, by combining it with sodium, MSG was created. In 1909, Professor Ikeda filed a patent to produce MSG commercially, and thus began it’s shady journey to popularity in our food supply chain to this day. What is it? MSG is odorless and tasteless alone, but when added to…

Keep it Simple | Part 4 – How to Grocery Shop on a Budget
Ahh shopping, some would call it “retail therapy”, but… does that still apply when you’re shopping for groceries? Likely not. I’ll admit, at one point I actually enjoyed grocery shopping. It was mostly during my couponing days, when I’d spend hours (or days) prior scouring the web for deals, mapping out my plan of attack, clipping and meticulously organizing coupons in my binder and finally going out and stuffing my car to the ceiling. It was exhausting, but also thrilling. I felt a sense of accomplishment and pride. Now, some 10+ years later, and things have changed a bit. For one, coupons aren’t as prolific as they once were. In…
