Keep it Simple | Part 3 – How to Meal Prep on a Budget

Keep it Simple | Part 3 – How to Meal Prep on a Budget  Meal Prepping has kind of created a life of it’s own these past few years, hasn’t it?  Especially with all the Meal Prep Services out there now, Meal Prepping is a trendy kinda thing.  Most people, when they think of Meal Prepping, imagine a neatly organized fridge, with stacks of identical containers containing a week’s worth of meals.  Or, perhaps you imagine a full stand up freezer, jam packed with 30 days+ of dinners & 400 individually wrapped Breakfast Burritos.  Sure, those are all amazing ways to prep food ahead – saving time, money & brain…

Back to Basics | Homesteading in Today’s World

    February 16, 2013 / No Comments

When most people hear things like cloth diapering, homemade soaps, and home remedies replacing conventional medicine, they think back to stories maybe their parents or grandparents told… A simpler time, when you couldn’t just hop in your gas-guzzling sports car and drive 30 feet to the nearest shop for pretty much anything, when men brought home the bacon and women stayed home and cooked said bacon, and when folks made decisions for their families based upon experience and knowledge rather than trusting what they said on TV.         I’ve been tinkering in the “natural realm” for several months now, and while most consider many of these things ‘alternative’, it’s actually quite…

I’ve been thinking about coffee again, it’s be I’ve been thinking about coffee again, it’s been smelling good to me (I hated the smell for awhile) and I was trying to remember how it tasted, so I decided this morning to make a small cup. It was pretty yummy, although not *as* good as I remember.

I’ll decide on a morning by morning basis if I want to have a cup or not. I really have been enjoying my teas lately.

It’s important to not tilt to the extreme in anything. I find when I say things like “I can’t have that” I feel restricted, and even flipping it to “I don’t want to have that” feels like a lie - I truly *didnt* want it for over a month, but then I did, so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I use local raw honey and grass fed cream in my coffee, and it’s organic. So it’s not bad for me in moderation, which is pretty much how I’ve always enjoyed it (except during my pregnancy with Gianna, I would drink a pot a day while waitressing at Cracker Barrel - it didn’t seem to effect her, lol).

All this to say, don’t be so hard on yourself mama! I’m pretty much back down to zero sugar (in cooking, baking, etc) and only have the occasional “treat” so I’m pretty proud of myself as far as that goes. If I want a cup of coffee, I’ll have it 🥰

Oh as far as results of giving it up for about 6ish weeks…. I didn’t notice much of a difference in energy levels. I thought once it was “out of my system” I’d get some type of energy boost, but I think being pregnant just has me tired. Maybe I’m just too hard on myself.
